Hello
Does anyone know what kinda sensor would be used to hook this gauge up? And where the sensor would hook up at the head!

Thanks Mike

There is a great EMPI one also that is rare

lucky one :-)

I have the VW one, not installed, but I only love the empi gauge :-)

What kind of sender you are using?

While you are on the subject what is the normal cylinder head temperature? When is it too high and how would you tell without a gauge?

Thanks

VDO currently do a CHT gauge and senders are available new for those. They have a similar range and may well work with your gauge (well, it mightn't be entirely accurate but then it doesn't need to be accurate if it's functional - if it signals a deviation from 'normal' then it's doing its job). The sender is a simple thermocouple which replaces the seal on the sparkplug where it takes its reading from. Change in temperature generates a proportional current which operates the gauge, no external power is required (but for illumination if necessary). I know the VDO gauges and senders are available from nhspeedometer.com.

Here's a pic of some gauges I have in my car, you can see the CHT sender.

Under normal loads, the needle on my gauge sits at about 250.

Getting back to the original post.
The Radatron gauge was pretty special.
It cam with a rotary switch and four senders !
You could dial the switch and get seperate readings for all four cylinders.
I have an nos in the box one and will post some pictures when I dig it out.
P.S. I also have an EMPI cylinder head temp. gauge in my 66 GTV.
:D
