it is coming out nice but this worries me. i would hang it off roading as well as on roading on. maybe some kind of protective channel that could bolt over the tubing.

That is the next thing I am working on. Aluminum cover.

i made a protective covering for my brake lines that i am running under the floor. i used a piece of angle iron almost the length of my buggy. its probably not the best looking thing but i do plan to take my rail off road and i think that it will serve its purpose. i welded tabs onto the angle iron and it bolts up to the bottom using the bolts that hold the floor pans down.

you can kinda see what im talking about its in the bottom left. but you can see the bolts that hold it up. ill try to get a better picture of it when i get a free minute.

Just another opinion here, but I think i would have routed the brake lines on top myself and I probably would have stuck with steel lines, I just don't trust that plastic stuff that much, and having brake lines or anything safety related like that under the floor of an off road car just scares me.... I regularly scrape the bottom of my rail on rocks and brush when I'm out playing in the hills, which is why I prefer to have everything above the floor as much as I can. If you were to look at the bottom of my buggy you would see that theres nothing that hangs down thats safety related, just a few bolts stick out here and there is all.
I totally understand your reasoning behind putting the lines under the floor ( it looks cleaner that way) but to me having it underneath like that is just asking for trouble unless their very well protected (which it sounds like your doing), but hey to each his own. Personally if I were using the plastic stuff I would have ran the tubing inside of another tube either on top or underneath like you have it (top side would be my first choice) that way its well protected and theres no chance of snagging them on anything.
Very nice buggy by the way.

I understand for safety. This car will never see the off road. just is not that many places around here to see that type of action. I really do not like the thought in building this car and mud all over it either. I built this car to show off some of the things I manufacture. I have always wanted a rail for street . Now I have it. I am going to cover the tubes also anyhow.

I will be there to see it this weekend!

Got to see it in person!

No offense, but it looks better in person than the pictures in the thread. Out in the daylight, being able to take it all in from every angle, it is one super nice rail.

Job well done.

Thank you very much. Thank you all for watching this build. I have not finished it yet but it is well on its way. I took second place in the unfinished class at a VW show here on the east coast. I want to say thank you all for your suggestions along the way.

You can pick any color you want . They sent the wrong color to start with. Emailed the sales lady she had the correct color here within 1 day. Super nice people to deal with.
