Yesterday I started to cut away the drivers side rear corner. The rear of my Bus is needs the most work. So I decided to dive in rear first.

Ouch.

Is the other side that bad?

More cutting. My guts always start to settle after the rust is removed.

This area was a surprise to me. I had no idea the rust was hidden under the paint.

This is the veiw from under. This fix is not as bad as it looks. I will show full detail of repair when I start to fit metal from a 65 rear I purchaced from Gainsville, Fl.

You can see the hole around the vent where PO had added scoops. Looks like twice as there are two sets of holes. Also there was a oil cooler mounted to the side of the Bus.

Did not realize it, that VW factoryspotwelders just put welds where ever they please. It looks like swiss cheese where I drilled the spot welds.

This evening was in the low 60's. But the last two days were 21 degrees early mourning. We are not use to that kind of weather here.
