Not trying to nit pick, but about that seat... shouldn't it have the rear bar across the top of the backrest? And I would expect old seats to have wing nuts to secure them to the floor? Just trying to educate myself more than anything, thanks!
You are absolute right - and I am sorry that we only found a complete interieur of a 1942 KDF-beetle which his father had. But you can use these seats and change some details like the bars No. 6 had original. But as Undis wrote - not all Type 38 had these bars. But the seats were not the onliest parts we got yesterday.

I have no doubt that they could find a set of NOS 1938 sacks to use... ;)
But seriously, I want to say that this is an absolutely amazing story. This may be my first post on here, but I've been a VW fan for almost my entire life. Reading about the discovery and salvation of #6 has been such a thrill for me! It's mind blowing to find out that one of the very first Beetle prototypes has miraculously survived for more than 70 years. And the work that you guys are doing is absolutely top notch! Thank you so much for all your efforts in restoring this invaluably historic car. I hope to have an opportunity to see it in person some day. Keep up the great work and I wish you all the best of luck and success! Schöne Grüsse aus Kalifornien! :D |

Hello,
sorry but in the moment we are working on small detail - so there is not so much to see.
We had the luck and found an orginal inner part of a 38 back hood wich we could copy for our decklid.
We also changed the piece for indicator switch and the last what we build were the different metall holder for the wiper.
Christian
PS : This weekend we will have a nice update - some major things are ready and will be delivered to us :D

I never noticed that detail on the wiper base, but, it's on most of the old kdf pictures posted here and it's real clear on one of the kdf vert pics. Awesome stuff. |

What are these new parts you speak of? Not to be pushy, but please tell us that the car is driving around your shop under its own power by now!).

| The Grundmanns must have the market on VW38 parts thoroughly cornered. I think we can officially start referring them as the VW38 Mafia now. |
