Yes, I'm very pleased with them - even if the chrome is so much better than everything else on the car they'll look a bit out of place

I was planning a mass outing to the chromers for most of the shiney bits on the car at some point.

I have this photo of the hooks installed - they look to be floating in mid air:

Does anyone have a photo form the other side to show how they attach to the frame please?

Sorry Qvazi, I have no seat belts fitted - I will be going for 3 point at some point though

Cheers,

Dave

There is a metal bracket on the frame that they attach to:

Thanks Izzy - I may be wrong, but I think they may be missing too - I've never come across them whilst looking for the hooks - I don't suppose they will be easy to find either?

Does anyone have any spare?

Cheers,

Dave

I think they are welded to the top frame itself...I can check later. I've never seen them for sale, only complete top frames for sale.

Sorry I can't provide pics, just took my car to where I store it for the Winter. But I have belts very similar, if not the same.

If I remember correctly, holes are drilled in the floor pan. The holes are somewhere right at the back edge of the seat rails, one being at the edge of the tunnel, and the other next to the heater channel.

Hope this helps.

I was going through this topic and was a little bit impressed by the beauty of these oval-verts......... =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

But I am wondering: there is a register of split-verts, Hebmullers and barndoorbusses but is there also a oval-vert register somewhere on the web :?:
With lots of pictures would be nice.

So I can continueing drooling when I'm looking at those pictures of these wonderfull cars 8) .

Thank you for your respons and I really hope you'll succeed in continueïng your blog.
I would love to register an oval-vert but I don't own one unfortunatly.
My vert is built in 1960 so it is to young  .
I just love those old beetle verts (I find myself lucky to own one 8) )but the oval-verts are my favorit.

So now I'm going to visit your blog :P .

I bought this vintage Photograph. it's only 2x2 " but high resolution.
the back says Luzern,Schweiz (Switzerland) 1957.
Quite a nice, mint oval cab ! nice swan neck mirror and trim rings.
Check out the Lincoln Continental Mk2 Hardtop Coupe behind the VW, what a rare luxury car then and now !

Here are two photos of the top hook mounts from a car without the top installed. One is close up to show how the mount is riveted to the frame. The other is a wider view to show where on the frame to look. The frame shown is about a '58. Earlier frames are pretty much the same, except the mount will have a part number starting with "A". It is unlikely the mounts are missing as is takes a bit of effort to drill out the rivets.
