Here is a picture when I had just got the car. It will be a long term project for sure, but I am excited about it.
I will try to post more pictures as soon as I have a chance. I found several parts of the car that were not painted with that yellow, but instead have a metallic red, especially in the trunk, which makes me believe its original color is Inca red. Sorry about the quality of the picture.
Thanks Daves[/quote]...looks alot like my '56 did in 1979, I hated that YELLOW! Took me 20 years to get it driveable! Good luck! |

The yellow headlights are no longer with the car, However I plan to find some and complete the Euro look. If anyone has some for sale let me know.
Was it yellow lenses or just yellow bulbs? I've never seen yellow lenses, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do exist. I have seen yellow bulbs though and also yellow bulb paint.
Dave
I believe the sealed beam portion was the yellow part of the headlight assembly. Not the bulb, and not the outer oval lens. Maybe some one out there has more info? |

I'd be surprised if it had sealed beams if it originated in France - I'm only aware of sealed beam units going to the US. They probably went to other countries, but I doubt if France was one of them. I like the idea of yelow bulbs - very cool and different. My Type 34 had a yellow bulb in its one fog light when I got it - I can't find yellow fog light bulbs so will paint the ones that are in there.

Good find! I stand corrected although all the ones listed are for Porsche - did they do them for the Beetle too?

Here is the chips of the colors for my vert. I didn't have my camera with me so I took this pictures with my phone. Let me know what you think!
Two Tone Delphine Grey (L321-Dark, L320- Light)
Hey guys, I have a rear glass correct for '56-'57 and i like to trade for a correct glass for '54-'55 since my vert is '55 and I'm getting close to install it or if you have a early one that you might get rid of let me know. |

Hey Frank,
You might want to research Larry Dustman's old Kabriolett. His was painted 2-tone Delphine Grey as well. His car was featured in many books published in the 80s & 90s. It later resided in the Burton Burton collection (Malibu, CA) in the 90s.
Larry still owns The Thing Shop (Phoenix, Az) and he's reknowned for his interiors. |

Frank, as you probably know, I restored my 55 back to the original color. Dolphin Grey Dark and Dolphin Grey Light. I have to tell you, looking at those pictures, they look off to me.
Unfortunately, when I sold my car, I shipped off the extra paint to the new owner.
Get some better pictures please and I will help you. But they both look a bit off to me. Especially the light one - it should ALMOST be white. When you look at it, you should see a tiny bit of grey. |

Thanks rkilbury, I'll check your pictures. I know about the carpet rings I already have them and they are not round.

Thanks flyertim for the pictures and I had red interior before and I'm going with the same color interior as well as the carpet. Here is a picture of my vert before restoration.

Thanks for your comment Kevin. I do remember you vert. Like I said before, I took those pictures with my phone so you know they’re not very good. The light color actually is lighter than that. The colors look more like the pictures from that ’54 that Lenny restored.
I gave them the OK to Paint and they started with the hood hinges & decklid big spring. I hope it come out the right color. Here is a picture of those parts. I will try to get better pictures of the color before they spray the body and I hope is not too late. Let me know what you think.
