I need a RHD loom which will be impossible because as far as I'm aware no-one makes one, so I'll have to work on a LHD one if there's any out there?
Jon Aaron has a source in the UK for looms Martin, it's worth giving him a call.

As for Visors, I reckon you are right that they would have made a rhd version rather than just flipping the lhd ones. That's just my opinion though, not a fact. Didn't Guido have a rhd assembly for sale recently? did that have a rhd visor on it?

I just ordered a LHD for my RHD last week and it was 350 ish from wiring werks, you can order it with or without semaphores or bullet fenders depending on your car....he threw some extra wires in the box so I can make them longer if needed.

PM me if you need details.

Hey Guys,
I just got the birth certificate for my car and as I suspected its original color is Inca Red. Another thing that surprised me was the fact that the certificate states the car was actually built in 02/02/1956, not in January as I thought. According to the "The samba" and other books that I have read the last car produced in January of 1956 had a chassis # 1 089 519 and my car has a lower number than that. How can that be explained? Another question that I have is: Were the convertibles assembled by Karmann and then brought back to the factory?
Thank you so much :D

That's cool that you got the Birth Certificate. My understanding is that VW probably supplied Karmann with chassis in batches and they used them when they could. The last chassis produced each month probably refers more to sedans than verts. Karmann will have received the chassis already stamped so if they didn't use their quota then that could explain why yours was finished later. ANother school of thought is that cars may have been held back by quality control - it appears it is not unheard of for cars from Karmann to have chassis numbers in the wrong sequence.

I doubt if completed Karmann vehicles went back to Wolfsburg - they'll have gone to the dealer directly from Osnabrook.

Not a RHD one..he laughed at me when I asked him for one and said he's never made one before...and wanted my old one..after a long conversation I got a LHD one with a grip of extra wires to extend to my needs...358.44 to my door....that's UPS and CA Sales tax.

Yeah I bet you can count the number of RHD Oval Vert's in the US on both hands, maybe even one?

Thanks for the direction Justin, I'll give 'em a call later.

I saw that car in one of the Hotvw's. It had LOTS of accessories. If you look carefully it has those wiper blade extensions and a door hinge post mounted passenger side mirror that you have to look through the front window to see. A really awesome car!
