Exhaust still looks great, though not as super special shiny as it was freshly installed.

I would say that is more from road grime and me not wiping it off than it is from coating deterioration.

"Jeff Geisen"]... when I first had my system coated it looked as if it were chrome, all shiney and reflective. It has been seven years now and it has dulled dramatically, but ceramic coating does not have to be shiney to work its magic.

Thanks for the replies. So seven years later and no rust or anything? I'm not as concerned about the look as I am the protective qualities but the look would be a bonus.

No rust, just mostly a beige look to it. I am happy with the results that a cool runnin' ceramic system brings. Then again, I drive my bus all around in all kinds of weather and off pavement too, I am sure I drive way more than the average bus owner, so yours may stay shiney for years and years.

What sold me initially is that a co-worker had ceramic coated headers on his american V-8, and one day he pulled up and popped the hood and within 2 to three minutes I could wrap my hand around the coated pipe. That's the beauty of the ceramic coating, it sends the heat out the tailpipe while it seals that heat in along its way, instead of radiating it onto the engine as you drive. The preservation aspect is merely a side benefit for me.

Glad to hear it has held up, that exhaust looks great. Do you remember how much it cost?

Cool man, I drive my Bus all over as well, shes my only means of transportation and I'm looking for protection and longevity of my exhaust over anything. Also, good to hear about the insulative properties. I'll be running the HX's with no tin and some people say they are cooler that way and others say it will make the engine hotter so a small bit of insulation will be nice to ease my mind.

... not in the best interest of the longevity of your engine to forgo the intallation of any tin.

To each his or her own.

I am sold. Just changed my order to the Chrome ceramic coating. Heat shield, Cat converter, muffler, tail pipe, heater boxes, cross over pipe, egr pipe, all getting it. Can not wait. I was told it should not hurt the Cat or the heat shield as the products cures at 500 degrees and the heat in the exhaust is similar. Anyone no the skinny on this?

the cat can get upwards of 1000 degrees. I have seen them glow red at night with a small misfire.
