You better install oxygen masks above/behind the sun visors, you are probably going to need them, the air gets thin at altitude.

mostly dirt and sand...
Here is a few pics of rear cage and tire mount spot, tire slides in from the top ..bottom braces and shock mount bars next!

Thats is an incredible build. For shifting you can use a Brandwood Cable Shifter. My dragster had a 914 transaxle and I ate a set of hubs/sliders first time out. The frame was in the way for a cable side shift so I swapped the nose cone ansd shifter parts. I modified the T-1 cable shifter to work. It shifted great after that. Brandwood now sells the shifter already set up for a 911 shift pattern. You running ac? I bet that babys going to generate some heat? Keep up the greatwork.

Lack of money is gonna start slowing me down soon.... :cry:
In the mean time im gonna work on building some of the gussets and Rear support bars im planning on put in down the road..

ok I need some info on shock mount locations and angles..
Im going with F.O.A. 18 inch travel 2.0 coil overs...
These are takin at full compression.. shock is 24.3 @ full bump"
I heard shock should be 90* off trailing arm from hub to arm mount (front to back) at full bump?

What is the recomended angle of shock from trailing arm towards the top mount (side to side)?

I welcome any other info on this topic, shock mount location, angle of the shocks piviot points to car, or anything else i need to know??

you want your shocks to follow the cycle of your trailing arm. you dont want them straight up and down. that is why most set their shocks at a forward angle.

Im more interested in the side to side angle of the shock from arm mount to frame mount..

you want them to be as close to straight as possable. you dont want them to move side to side. it will cause binding and id think it would put un wanted stress on the shock? the less movement of the shock the better. at least thats what iv always been told...

let me see if I can say it easier... you're getting the answers you need but they aren't to clear.
you have the 90* thing right, so when the arm is at full bump the top shock mount would be tilted towards the front of the car at 30* +/- looks like you have that, BUT you want as LITTLE tilt as possible looking from the rear/front, just as the front shocks stand straight the rears should too.
In your mock-up below the shock should be as close to straight up and down as possible,

you have it tilted in almost 45* :shock: you're gonna have to move your mount up the arm a bit and may need to "massage" the body a bit.[/img]

This may be a stupid question but then again i do not know your intentions for the car, so anyways here it goes.

If you are going through all of this work to build a bomb Baja-Bug, wouldn't it be a lot eraser to just build a rail? That’s essentially what your doing, just fitting it all inside a shell. Maybe you just want the Baja look? I don’t know I was just curious. Awesome build though by the way this thing is turning out incredible
