| Congratulations on that free bug! You are very lucky. I would like to hear the story of how you got it. I wouldn't lower it, they look so much better stock in my opinion. Everyone is lowering them these days, be different. |

Cut the noob some slack - all Beetles / Supers from 1971-on had the half moon vents behind rear side windows...

Thanks. It just goes to show that hard work does pay off...
I told the story a couple pages back you can take a look for your self if you like. well this bug has been sitting for a while so the rear end sangs alot and it just looks funny. I'm thinking just some 2 inch drop spindle for the front not no narrowed beam or anything... |

nice car.
you would also benifit from joining one of the local clubs. there are two in the area, absolute vw and the rose city volksters.
both are good and full of info pic the one that suits you the best, or is simply closer.
i joined the volksters when i bought my car and they have helped me out alot. utilize their knowledge for your car and you will also make some good friends.
you also get a discount at most of the local parts houses. i used it when i put the disk brakes and suspension on my car and saved $300 that time.
check them out at www.rosecityvolksters.com and www.absolutevw.com |

Nice ride, bro. Just bought my first VW too. Didn't get it for free but got a damn good deal on it (I think so anyway).
I too might be joining one of those local clubs.
By the way, as local Oregonians seem to be replying in this thread...I have a question for you all (sorry to hijack your thread little BUGger)...
I don't have a garage can any western Oregonians/Portlanders give some suggestions as to what I should do to prepare for winter? My '72 Super will be my daily driver and I want to get it as water tight as possible. Unfortunately, I've already noticed that a little water was on my driver floor when it rained the other day. Same thing used to happen to my old Austin Mini. I searched through the archives here and it seems to be a common problem. I reckon it might be coming from the hood vents or maybe the doors...not sure. I'll be more investigative next time it rains.
Any winterizing tips for the coming rain would be useful. |

joining our club is easy go to the web site and there is a link.
or you can show up at the meeting and check us out before you commit.
we meet the second tuesday of every month at the round table in Beaverton at 7 pm.
the other club i believe meets the same tuesday as us at the stark street pizza on stark and 92nd on the east side of portland.
we both support the big vw car shows in the summer, we have the woodburn bug run and they have the rose city bug in at PIR.
as for the water on the floor i was driving during a huge thunder storm and water started pouring on my foot as i was racing home. i believe it is due to the hood vent getting stuff in it and then plugging up the drain holes in the vent box. this in turn rots stuff and/or fills the box with enough water it then leaks into the car and finds its way to the floor.
i am going to remove the cover in my trunk('73) to try and clean this issue out. it has taken the life of my blower fan and i need to also replace that while i am in there.

| red if you have no place for your car i would eater get one of those carports made of pipe and really anchor it to the ground cause as you know living in oregon you never know what to expect and if carport isnt a option get one of the nicest car covers you can find that is durable to any weather. |
