Bro, I would greatly appreciate it if you could call your friend to see if he/she may have the ones I'm looking for. [-o< I would make it worth your while, as well as your friend's. I am willing to give up the frames that I have now, pay cash, trade or whatever. I will email you soon to talk about it. Thanks, man! O:)

Hey OD, any chance you could ask and see if he/she's got any frames from Riviera Motors? That'd be an ultimate score for a Riviera camper. I've got a really clean set of Mid-Oregon Motors frames I can trade or we can talk ca$h.

Noticed you were from Longview. One of the best collections of VW frames resides on the wall at Averre's. Just looked at 'em last week. Unfortunately, they refuse to sell any of them. These frames are rather hard to come by. I went to several local junkyards in Eugene and found that when they take the plates off to return them to the DMV (under Oregon law), to save time they typically yank the frames off and send the whole package to the DMV, thus eliminating junkyards as a good source for old frames. My guess is that's the way they do it in junkyards in other places. Might explain why some of the dealers at OCTO were asking $25-$30 for single used frames.

:-k Longview, Texas?? Well, my family has been in the Kilgore, Henderson, Nacogdoches area for about 150 years. My Storage is near Plainview, Texas near Lubbock. Just moved back down here from living in Eugene for 15 years.
I've combed the junkyards in and around Eugene, and have have found nothing. Spent some time looking in Salem a while back, and have come up empty handed there too. Most of the old shit is gone and/or crushed out. Finding anything salvageable from the '50's, in Western Oregon, is rather futile these days. :changes:

Actually, I was responding to Longview, WA, but you're right about there being little left in W OR junkyards. And, damn, now we have one less nice bus in Eugene :(

:-k Oh........and yes. I'll bring some back next summer. O:)

You won't believe this....I found an Eyerly plate today at Oakway Center.
It says Eyerly Salem on the bottom and across the top it says Volkswagen. Not sure if it's the 50s one you described or not. It was on a late 60s beetle.
I left my card on the wheel (car was unlocked) and asked the owner to call if interested in selling it. I'm amazed at what the odds are that there's one post on the Samba, seeking a frame from thousands of potential dealerships, and then I happen upon it the same day. Will let you know if I hear from owner.

I'd like to find a some Riviera plate frames too....my '56 Westfalia was purchased there new.

By chance, does anybody have anything from Kelly Vance Motors in Radcliff, Kentucky? My '67 was purchased new from there. Thanks.

 Wow! That is impressive! The chances of that happening are like never. Maybe it's the actual missing frame from my bus. Not likely, but possible considering that you saw it the same day, at Oakway, after I posted the request. Was the frame kinda fat, or did it look like the one in the picture in the first post of this thread?

That frame is the last part that I need to complete my old 23. The bus does need some safari windshield glass though. My 23 came with factory safaris, dealer option Motorola radio, rubber skin aluminum grab handle on the dash, dealer option pump windshield squirter/washer, cig. lighter, and 3 pop-out windows down each side. I am hoping to have it on the road by this time next year. I have actually never seen the correct frame. I'll know it when I see it though.

I appreciate you leaving a note on the guy's steering wheel. Damn, If that car had been sitting in L.A., unlocked with no "club", it wouldn't have lasted an hour. That is the nice thing about Eugene, it's still just a little city and no one cares about VW's there but hippies anyway.

Here are a couple of pics of the grey case that I thought was from Riviera Motors, but is actually from West Slope Motor Co. in Portland. I ,do, however, have a case just like this one from Riviera Motors, and it is in my enclosed trailer in Los Angeles. I originally thought that this one, was that one.

Sadly, no response from the beetle owner in Eugene. The bug was so trashed that maybe that frame was the only thing that reminded the owner of its illustrious past. I don't think it was the fat one, but it looked different than you pic. Perhaps Eyerly changed frames several times over the years.

correction....than your pic. Why is it that one doesn't see mistakes when one previews a post, but rather only after it's up there for the world to see? Samba mystery #963.
