View original topic: Split Vert Bumper Groove Colors

Hi,

Does anyone know if a 51 split vert should have the groove in the bumpers painted like a 51 sedan (red) or did Karmann paint the grooves to match the body color?

I've seen split verts where the bumper paint matches the body color or the 2 tone of the side panels.

Thanks

As far I know, I only have seen body color for the bumpers on a Vert !
You could ask Claus Missing (Registery) He knows that for 100% !

Guido

What's the truth for Sedans on this topic. Was red a 51-only feature? My absolutely untouched March 52 has black paint in the bumpers. Black car also.

L90 Sand had red as well in 1952.

That is Correct , and L 87 pearl white and L 90 sandbeige in 1951
The paint code for the red paint is L 53 siegelwachsrot , the same paint code as was used on the wheels for these cars !
For a 51 L 55 maronenrot , the wheels and bumper where body color painted

I do not think those are Kabriolet colors. The green-green split vert colors seem to be dark green LKL15 and reseda (eng mignonette) LKL 14.
