Hi all,
I'm close to completing the panel van resto (i'll stick a thread devoted to it when it's done) but I'm after an ignition housing. I've discovered there were perhaps 3 types between 68-70. I've taken a pic of my (empty... ) cowling next to a '70 cowling and that shows the differences where the ignition housing is secured - the bolt holes are wider, about 62mm centre to centre. Also the igntion housing I'm after doesn't have that concave bit where it 'spoons' into the ignition cowling, like two lovers might under the covers on a midwinters night.

Anyone have one for me? UPDATED - FOUND ONE IN AUSTRALIA, thanks

The cowling i have is know as the 'lip' type.

We have in Australia a carby squirt product called 'Start Ya Bastard', I hope i can say this to my van soon :)

Cheers
Simon

PM Gabriel the VW key man at "gabvwkey". If he does not have the housing you need, ask him who might have one.

Man that is one sweet panel, I love my westy but that would be my second choice. Great job on the resto. I just had my 78 deluxe repainted the original mexico beige but my paint needs a bit of buffing before it looks like that.

kudos

cheers mate - this hasn't been cut back and buffed and polished yet, this is out of the gun. The guy who painted it is a legend, works on all top end classic cars

I see you have an early style fuel pump, do us all a favor and lockwire the fittings on it and the carb, it would be a shame to see that one go up in flames

Sweet looking PV, great Paint job :0)

It may be nice of you could find the with vacuum distributor to go with you stock looking engine, and would probably make your bus feel more responsive :0)
