yeah there is..i think its because of the goldmine vw store in whittier

I work in Whittier and notice a bunch of them around. You talking about German Auto? The guys that work there are really helpful and know theyre stuff, good place. So it seems like a natural progression to go from F bodies to VWs? Good, I don't feel like such a weirdo now

the correct engine for 69 would have been a 1500 single port so you have a replacement engine. Dual port is better anyways so no worries.

I was able to run the numbers and figured out its a '70-71 motor. Runs great, just need to ease my curiosity. Wheres vwgoldmine?

Well work was slow today so I was able to get some primer on her

We'll see if I can get the other side primered tomorrow.

BajaPete69 Wed Jul 29, 2009 5:21 pm

Well got the other side primered, looks just like the other side. Funny thing, this morning as I was making a turn on my way to work, the baffle in my stinger decided to fly out  Guess the screw I had holding it came unscrewed, oops. Found it a little later, ran over a few times. Nothing a hammer and pop rivet couldn't fix though.

I like the baja. And the Chevy's aren't all that bad either :P

I'm a Ford guy myself. Here's my other money pit. Currently getting Ranger front rotors with, uhum, S-10 calipers:

Thats a pretty sweet Ranchero. Its a Ranchero, right? BTW, you're distributor is supposed to be in the back of the engine
Well, got some more primering done on the bug, starting to look half way decent.

It's a Falcon. It's the car version of the Ranchero. My mom's cousin bought it new in late '63. Has roughly 400,000 miles on it. It's nickname is the Pelican.

Oic, its a convertible, totally missed it not having a roof.

Installed a sweet tach and bezel today, still need two other gauges though

Now, my gas gauge is stuck at empty, thats in another post, oh well, it'll give me something to do tomorrow.

Gas gauge stuck at empty is a result of the debit card stuck in your wallet. LOL

You may have a bad vibrator...NO I'm not talking about why your wife is grumpy. Really! There is a device in a small box high on the trunk side of your speedometer called a vibrator. I think it's purpose is to keep the needle from staying stuck in one place. It could be the source of trouble.

Lol, thats what I was thinking was wrong. Looks like I'll be taking a trip to the junkyard tomorrow to search for a new vibe.

Guess its time for an update:

Finally got all my gauges in and a new steering wheel. Got tired of hitting my knees getting in and out.

Finally decided on a color scheme. Turquoise with black bedlined fenders. Why turquoise? Got a great deal on a gallon of it.

And my new quiet motor. Had to ditch the stinger, got a job that started at 4am. Runs so much better with the muffler too. Also new tires. My next plan is to install the 944 axles I picked up. In the meantime, just driving and job hunting, oh fun.
