Nice display area you got there!
I picked up these 5 original signs this week, 2x VW and 3x BP (double-sided):

When I met my,(now) wife in 1986 my (now) father-in-law was using the back side of this to mix paint on so he wouldn't spill any on his outdoor brick BBQ. Funny thing is I saw it several times over a couple of years before I saw the front side.Once I told him I dug it he kicked it down. It's porcelain over metal and is 15 1/2" X 23 1/2"

I like that - very simple and probably only interesting to those "in the know".
(Edit - that sounds a bit weird but it's meant to be a positive) |

^^very nice!!
I've got some more VW sign porn for you guys:
All original Dutch signs. All very rare, actually they go up in rarity from left to right. The Service one is the most common. Of the 'Tax Free Cars' I know of 2 others, of the 'V Occasions met Garantie' I know 1 other, and the square V sign I don't know any other of! (I do know that there's a VW logo sign in that similar size)

| peeps knew their colors back then. look at those two greens with the complimentary red....oldest trick in the book, two analogous colors, one opposite with the most contrast happening where you want the main focus to be. sweet! |

Got this one cheap on Craigslist a few years ago. Its marked 1954. Complete with bullet hole from a 22, the seller said it was a hole for hanging the sign.

Need help.
Here is a photo of 2 signs, 1 with the smooth slick surface and 1 with the sanded reflecting surface.
Does anyone have experience with removing the factory sand surface?
I have a couple of sanded signs, that I want smooth, but how do I do this in the best possible way, without damaging the enamel? and is it possible?
thanks guys

| I'm no expert, but I don't think it's possible. It's an entirely different surface, I don't think they enameled it smooth first and then added the reflective 'sand'.. |
