Hi, take a look...
It's called JAMARO.

Some photos of the engine in this blog.

http://mestrejoca.blogspot.com/2009/03/as-entranhas-do-motor-jamaro.html

Was build here in Brazil, is a project from 1968, we have other 8 Cil. flat four made here(Fitti-Fusca), in 1969.

Sorry for bad english, I think the informations are correct. Take a look on the blog for more.
Thanks.

The used two Vw 1500 std, totaling 3000cc.
The original project was made with two 1600, totaling 3200cc.

That thing has got to have a ton of torque!

I might do the same thing to a Corvair engine, but the billet crank alone would cost over $4,000.....
Imagine it though- flat 8, ITB injection intake, dual cooling fans, 4052cc displacement with VW 92mm cylinders, roller cam....

Excellent! If I was going to all that trouble, I would have used superflows, and 2 2232's though...maybe even a turbo,if the class allows for it.Could you imagine?700 hp in that car?yeeeeeehhhhhhaaaaaaa.

Seems to Me T4 heads would be a lot better choice for something like that.

How did he(they?)couple the crankshafts?
Cool engine-imagine that in a Germanlooker on a deserted autobahn flat out!

That's right, Emerson Fittipaldi used to race it in the years before he became world champion.

BTW, Massa was robbed last year!

Miniman I tought you would not notice!!!

SO it is a big air cooled engine I like the valve covers, looks like Scat, ha.

Real cool horizontal fans.

Hi!
They made a molten crankshaft (is one piece made to the 8 cil, not two cranks).
They used two sport cam of Puma (Brazilian sport car that use vw air cooled). The model of can is "P3", I don't know how, but they "paste" the two cams to work togheter.
The engine is in test, they had problem with oil pressure in the start of project (same problem of the original project from 68), but they talk it's all o.k now. They are working on the cooling system too.

Again, sorry for bad english!
Nice weekend for all from Brazil.
Bye.

About the torque... yes the engine have a lot of torque!
The project use a VW tramission, but more long than an original ( for more speed, transmission like used in the brazilian car called SP2), but it's short to the engine of the project.
For now the engine don't work in high RPMs.
