Does anyone own or have photos of a full fendered baja? Whats the benefit of this? what kind of mods would you have to make so you wouldnt bottom out in the fenders?
I know you would have more clearance with the baja kit...
thanks |

| You cut and turn the front end and reindex the rear t-bars. There are a lot of threads dealing with this. You will of course also need new shocks. |

You don't "need" new shocks, but you sure will want them... |

| I can tell you first hand that KYB stands for Kills.Your.Back. If I could go back I wouldn't waste money on the gas-adjust shock. I should have saved up my allowance for some Bilsteins. |

I built this one a really long time ago...
It had stock looking, but larger fiberglass fenders. Used a thing beam with long shock towers and 8" Bilsteins in the front. Steering was a ZF box w/ Ford tie rod ends. Fully caged. 002 trans w/ stock gearing (4:86). Chromoly arms in the rear, with dual Bilsteins, type II CV's. Drum brakes, 1776 w/ dual kads. Home built thing style exhaust. 8.5" travel in front, 11" in the rear.
I NEVER SHOULD HAVE SOLD IT!!

Mine built 25 yrs ago and just revived this last year
I used a 3" body lift kit that i like cause it gives me extra interior room , i like the look and allows bigger tires.
Used a 1" tranny engine lift mount for a little more clearance
I like having a full size trunk with a spare and my engine covered and sealed
adjusters front and back and notched spring plates.
Only bad i dont like is my muffler being the low at the rear will get pulled off on occasion. My next mod will probably build some cool tube bumpers and try to have a muffler made to be higher some how in in the bumper area
As far as Kyb's , i used them cause they are cheap and pretty good. I must admit they are a little stiff when its just me in the car but with a passenger and gear i'm good. I kinda think that the extra weight from body metal , my roll bar and some heavy seats give me a more solid feeling ride then if its was stripped down fiberglass and lighter. Not as good for high flying jumps but i dont do that much.

Thanks! Yours looks cool too. Also looks like you have some fun in it. :)
As for building another one... maybe... I have a pan to build something out of. I just can't decide what. LOL

what does everyone use for rims and tires? some look like chevy rims or something like it 4 bolt. Same with tires? they are pretty aggressive offroad tires, almost look like forklift tires.
actually just noticed theres alot of stock rims with beefy tires on them. what size tires are these? (like on the front of the red one or the baby blue bug) |

Stock rims with 7.00 x 15s is what class 11s run. You can also run a 235/75/15 but it's too wide in my opinion. A 215/75/15 would be good for a street mainly car, but offroad the taller 7.00 x 15 works better. That little extra clearance works for you most of the time.
Get the tires tubed at your local shop, you'll never have to change a flat offroad again. |

| Yepper. Runs great with tubes for a class 11. Scrubs the fenders and headlight bucket from time to time. We switched to 7x15 and I think they are better. |
