Hi, my name is Diane Griffith. I just want to let VW enthusiasts know about my recently released book.
I am the author of "Chasing Dreams in Lefkas."
It is a true adventure story about a middle aged couple who traveled from Cheshire, England to the Greek island of Lefkas in an 18 year-old VW camper packed with video equipment in 1991 when faced with the trauma of redundancy. It was a way out of a depressing situation, which many people are facing now. I wanted to share all our varied experiences with people who might have liked to 'opt out' and live rough, but might never have had the opportunity. They can follow us on our journey without suffering the hardships. Find out how we made and sold videos of the island adding personal moments for tourists and locals. So that they could impress their friends with a proffessinal holiday video, which were very popular at that time. We added music and special effects, doing all the editing in our old VW camper in sweltering heat using a generator. But we caused quite a sensation wherever we showed the video from a portable TV placed above a sink facing the streets and harbour fronts.
Our old VW camper was such an important part of our venture. Did we find the true meaning of happiness or were we merely chasing dreams?
