We're finally going to get the 61-63 Salt & Pepper cloth reproduction project started. In about two weeks I'm going to be meeting with the manufacturer. As anyone who has seen the awesome job this mill did on the Type 34 cloth repro can tell you, this will be a high quality reproduction of the original Type 3 upholstery cloth. I'm in the process of planning the job and I need to gauge interest so the manufacturer can estimate how long a production run to do. The price is going to be approximately $90-100 yard and I estimate 3-4 yards will be required to redo an early interior in the original style. A number of you expressed interest in an S&P repro in the Type 34 cloth thread, including:
Notchboy
wolfman's brother
1500king
Typ311Dave
sumguy
tram
pre52
69SquareGuy
jays58s
Notched
aed_cisco
fuchs lee
Who else is interested? Now's the time to sound off if you haven't already.
In case anyone's not sure what it is I'm talking about:

Yes, indeed, I'll take 4 yards.
Do you still have any of the blue Type 34 fabric? |

Bob's in already -- when I say "we're" getting started on the project Bob is a part of that "we".
So with Martin, Neil, Everett, and Greg -- and counting Gizmo and myself -- I've got 19 people that are potentially interested so far. Who else? |

I have 3 yards of the blue left. Shoot me an email or PM if you'd like to buy it. |

There is no down the road a bit. Its an order deal-money up front. Unless someone else fronts the cash for more yardage and then charges you more-down the road  And that will be if they choose to even sell it. |

Well, yes and no. Until I meet with the manufacturer we won't know exactly what all the particulars will be. I think there will be enough of this cloth produced to meet everyone's needs for many years to come, so supply won't be an issue, but what I can tell you is that anyone who expresses interest now will be positioned to get the cloth they need just as soon as it's available and at the best possible price.
We're not taking actual orders yet. The first order of business is to demonstrate to the manufacturer that there's a market for this cloth. That's where we are now. |

I did some calculations to figure out exactly how many yards will be required for a complete interior, including front and rear seats, door panels, door pockets, rear quarter panels, and rear seat armrest (if applicable). 3.5 yards will do it.
This estimate is based on measurements I took from Gizmo Bob's '62 with correct pattern orientation on all pieces and assuming a bolt width of approximately 58 in. I haven't been able to measure an early Square but I'm confident that 3.5 yards will be enough based on the research I've done.
If you tell me you're interested I'm going to assume you mean 3.5 yards. If you're planning on doing more than one car or need more for other reasons please let me know.

| I would say its safe for a square as well. The square seat is smaller but the rear lower panels are bigger. |
