One question, how did you do the lettering on the inside ?

You can buy pattern letters here.

Generally 3/16 is as thin as you want to go without heating the mold. Depends on the alloy too and how long it has been in heat. |

wow, thats pretty wild. If i ever get my turbo 36horse motor running, i'll definately want a set. I live in ellenwood, ga near stockbridge, so i'm pretty close.
A question for ya tho. you said its costing $20 a pop, do you mean its costing you $20 a cover, or $20 a set? either way seems like a pretty good deal. would you mind telling us who the foundry is, or is that a secret? you can PM me if ya don't want everyone to know. I'd love to get some things made myself. and I live just outside atlanta anyway. thanks

Seminole Foundry,Inc.
Mal Rowell is the owner but make sure you know what your taking about or he`ll blow you off like a school kid. The cost for me is $20 a pour with a working pattern( thats the hard part). There are other foundry and even some college here in Atlanta that pour aluminum. Just look around there out there.
PS. Give me $10 grand or a pre 59 bus and I give you a aluminum working pattern. LOL |

thanks for the tip. i'll have to do my homework, as i know pretty much nothing about casting, or its process. I'm guessing theres a lot more then pressing a bunch of sand together and pouring some molten aluminum in there  |

Faster,
You need to do a run and sell your covers. I believe there is a void in the market for some simple finned 36 horse covers that retain the gasket.
I would buy two sets.
Not too many of us can justify the 2-5 hundred vintage ones are being listed
for  |

| Just a thought if you have enough room on the pattern and its out of your r&d stage send it out and have it put on a pressure casting matchplate. Its pricey however you could poor 4 rocker covers at a time. |

Ok just bead blasted the pattern removed the name (faster) going to replace it with Zeus. Thats my dog going on 15 now ( never had a shot and has lived on old roy dog food from a pup) well I`ll take the shot back he did get bit by something one time (snake maybe) that made his face swell up and had to get a shot for that. Overall a hell of a good outdoor dog never like staying in the house. But now he`s old slow can`t run as fast see or hear and is running out of time so I`m going to name the valve covers after Zeus.
PS. he`s still gives squirrel hell but I think they fell safer now.

Heres the latest update. I changed the name (now Zeus my dog) made a few areas thicker and got my FIRST GOOD valve cover finally. I also milled down an old cylinder head to use for a drilling jig so I can get the holes spot on still working on it. And after checking everything out last night like alittle kid and making sure everything fit just right I called the foundry today and ordered 5 more which will give me 3 sets to play with.
And just so you no I came real close to giving up on these bastards but a month or to later someone would always bring it back up and ask about them. I`m glad I didn`t stop now.
So heres the new Zeus cover.
This is the drilling jig I`m still working on
