hi there, my name is Kyle and I've been on here for a few weeks selling parts.
I thought I'd finnaly stop by in the forum section and talk a little bit about my bug.
Its a standard 1972 that I'm making a Herbie replica out of. I've had him since I was about 12, and I'm now 16. most of the work I did on it I was about 14 though. I've rebuilt the engine, redone the brakes, and replaced most of the body parts to the early 63 model peices. But enough chit chat, heres some pics of the little guy :)
(this was about 4 years ago)
After a lot of work, and about $900 later I had this :D
(engin after rebuild)
I am curently right here in my project, body and paint.
(notice the early front hood and apron)
(shaved half moon)
(shaved gas door)
hope you guys like the project 8)
by the way, I'm doing the famous $50 roll on paint job, WISH ME LUCK!! :!:
oh, if your curious heres what I look like today. I grew a little taller and my hair grew a little longer
sorry, just one more. Heres my bug at the Love Bugs 40th aneversary at Disney Land

Looks good, Kyle! :D I have mixed feelings about Herbies made from later cars, but you've done a lot to make it look like a '63.
One tip: if you're rocking a later engine (with doghouse cooling) in that car, I'd run a tennis ball on the rear decklid catch to make sure it gets enough air.

what are u using as a catch to keep the decklid latched shut?
you need to make that into an early dash too
fill in the defroster vents and knobs, early wiper switch and steering wheel and early speedo and fuel gauge |

I've had all that on my mind from the day I bought the car. Interior is next, already have all the nessasary goodies
as far as the deck lid I just have a little tab welded on, nothing special. Hope to get an early model rear apron soon :D |
