So I've been hanging around and talking about my car, but it's finially time for a build thread. So far it's pretty much A rolling shell, and I'm doing the body work and getting it rubbed up for paint. I'm doing the bodywork and paint in a summer school class, but the class ends next week's wendsday so I might not get it completely painted. :( But thats okay, because We've got a walled off carport at home that I can paint in (and it's set up for it) but it's not quite as nice as a proper downdraft paint booth.
But anyhow, what you all want is pictures, sorry crappy cell phone, but hey appreciate it, I had to sneak the cell phone out on a break.
Here she sits in all her blurry.
Hood sits wrong (drivers side)
Passenger side
A better (but still s*@%) overview
I really need help getting this hood aligned and I don't think it's been hit, the apron's been changed but I think both front fenders are OG (they have the undercoating on them). And I don't see any seams inside the trunk (frunk?). |

| looks good. i think you should check the hinges out. it seems they are a little high and a little too far out. may have to bend some metal. |

| Hmmm, well to me it looks like a shaft type thing is spot welded to the airbox, then the hinge goes on that shaft with a clip holding it on, but the hinge has worn out so it flops about and also is bent. On the body work today i sprayed some more sealer and bonded a spot on one of the fenders, otherwise its just feather edging and sanding and she's paint bound! |

The class is over now, not quite finished but getting there. The paint is so damn thick and built up on this thing that to feather edge it you have to go a long ways, and in this class the teacher made us do it by hand (to get a feel for it) so thats what took the longest seeing as how the entire car had chips on every panel  . Anyhow pics!
It's not as smooth as it looks
Interior is next up
Might put these ultra comfy olds aroura front buckets in
And probably will put in this subaru rear seat

Wow, I finially got it into a place where I can work on the body! I also had a friend over (no bodywork experince) and showed him what to do, and somehow he just got it bam! He smoothed some stuff on the apron and sanded in A body line where someone shaved the trim and then it rusted on their job so i had to grind their niiiice bondo job out  . Anyhow, pics!
Where he cut the body line
Cleaned off the package tray
No rust through in it either! for a car in Alaska, this thing is INSANELY solid.
The final picture...
Oh yes, I'm detailing the door latches.
Did I post the picture I photoshopped of my end goal?

| Looking great so far, I'll be taking the bodywork plunge with my '72 Super soon...feathering the edges of all of those fantastic rusty rock chips that are ALL OVER the front of my car is gonna suck. |

Not anymore! The seats and floor are out...
Once I finally get the floor put back in and the interior put back in it is going to the local VW mechanic for the brakes because I am afraid of messing those up...
Besides, you can drive your orange Super, right? 8) |

| I just hate it 'cos the car is perfectly capable of being driven, but it hasn't left the neighborhood since sometime in May, and the driveway in over a month. Apparently, since I have a new car, I'm not allowed to enjoy my old one  |
