i like the classic look too, but not on supers. IMO supers are good for two things German/performance look or all stock. but its your car, whatever you do to it make it the way you want it and keep up the good work!

I agree there. The resto for my Super is years off, but I can't decide between bone stock, slight mods, or German look.

Fuchs are played out. And arent cheap.

LeviMan2001 Mon Dec 21, 2009 3:03 pm

Well, we'll see. I'm thinking bumpers with over riders, lowered a bit (not slammed, I live in Alaska, it'd bottom out  ). Someone's already shaved the side trim, so I guess I won't have that, will have hood trim. Also, 68-72 rear fenders possibly. So pretty much a stock look with a bit of a lowering and some wheels, nothing crazy.

Look what I got for Christmas! I also got a complete interior pretty much. A pretty large gift if I do say so myself!

Now another thing. I took my cool moon pedal out of this buggy thing but when I took it out, I didn't think I'd use the pedal cluster so foolishly, I left the screw out of the linkage thing. Well, come to find out it's not a normal bolt. Sooo, the question is, does anyone else have a linkage that looks like this? And if so, where can I get a new one (or used for that matter).

Oh, also I welded some floor today

You meant to say that to me, I presume.
Just kidding.

But I am finally working on my floor again. :D

Wait a minute, maybe I did mean to say that to you, whoops wrong thread. For some reason I always mix up you guy's cars even though they look nothing alike

TheRustySuper Mon Dec 28, 2009 2:47 pm

I love getting car parts for Christmas, I remember getting new seat pads and covers when I was 11 and we had first bought the car...I was so excited :D

What are you doing with the interior? You doing stock color and everything?

LeviMan2001 Mon Dec 28, 2009 6:42 pm

Yeah, white headliner, black seats and panels, black carpet. And hey, not finially! I already patched up one hole under the drivers seat! It's not the most beautiful patch, but it goes under paint, padding, carpet, a seat, and my ass so I think it's fine.

PatterBon Mon Dec 28, 2009 7:28 pm

Jeeze, when I was 12, i thought all my bug needed was paint  ...boy was I wrong!

So did I. I thought my engine was in tip-top shape too. As it turned out, there were vacuum leaks, the vacuum advance on my dizzy didn't work, the timing was WAY out, and the engine was pinging. I just couldn't tell, due to the rusty muffler. We drove it that way for about 1500-2000 miles as well  Glad I found this site when I did, otherwise I would've never realized any of that.

Sounds good :) I like the stock interior in VW's, a lot of the aftermarket stuff just doesn't look right in them. I can't wait until I move out and can get a welder and learn to weld...my floors are good but everything else is rotting out.

So I've got an idea for some weight loss in the rear end on this fatty. You know how the '67 decklid is kinda similar with it's bulge and such? Well, how bout '67 fenders, apron, and decklid with '68 lights and '68-'73 bumpers? Well I photoshopped this:

Anyhow, all pointless planning aside, I welded some more floor, now I just need to grind it (especially the bottom side which was a PITA and crappy.

TheRustySuper Fri Jan 08, 2010 6:48 am

You could go with the tombstone style taillights and earlier fenders, that would pretty good, I think. But I dunno about the decklid...perhaps if you used a vert decklid with the two sets of vents though?

LeviMan2001 Sat Jan 09, 2010 3:18 am

Yeah I was thinking about the vert vents. Or maybe if I just welded in my 4 set of vent vents from the '73 decklid?

pupjoint Mon Jan 18, 2010 1:48 am

dude, good work, but yr floors , wouldnt it be better if u replace by halves or sections? as they look quite bad to me.

where in Alaska are you?

LeviMan2001 Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:07 am

Yeah, that probably would be best, but this isn't like a GFK resto or anything so since the pans aren't seen I think it'll be good enough for me. Also, I'm in Anchorage.

LeviMan2001 Fri Jan 22, 2010 1:30 am

Small update, I got a hook on the '67 panels and '68 tail lights  This is gonna be sweet. Also, I've been working towards the motor more and more   .

Yeah, since the GFK doesnt restore late model supers.

Its too bad you are in alaska. I have a 78 super pan completely redone, that I got with some other parts, you could have... Id like to get it outta my back yard before someone sees it, LOL.
