God dammit, I've been scouring Walmart's shelves every time I'm in there for one of those! I want one because it's the exact same color as mine. And I find them on eBay but after shipping, people want like 6 or 7 bux for it and I can't ever justify paying that for a Matchbox car...do they ever turn up anywhere else?

Quote: do they ever turn up anywhere else Ive seen em' at target.

I have got several over the past couple of years at Dollar General...I have only seen orange (like my bus)

greenbus pilot Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:44 pm

Found my green one about 3 months ago, and the supply has dried up. :(
Easier to get a government bailout than find one of these.

Hey Eric thanks for the link and orange... :)

The pics look like a matchbox ad for our buses... 8)

I will be searching the local Walmart and Target...If I find a green one I'll snatch it up for you!

when the orenge one came out about a year ago
they were hard to find & going for $10 on ebay

then the frenzy died down & i got the orenge one for $2 +$3 shipping
which at the time was less than what it would have cost in gas to go buy one

im sure the same thing will happen again
in the mean time when my son says he wants to see the toy section
i wont say no

I just grabbed one on ebay. Trips to Walmart always get too consuming and expensive.

Next task will be to repaint it. In primer

I have one of the original 1969 or so Hotwheels "beachbomb" busses....lime metallic green. Missing one surfboard. I heard the original in good condition brought about $10k.

Mine is the production version light green, dark interior, 1969 with sideloading surfboards and hippy decals. Ray

I believe it was the rear-loading beach bomb that was the pricey one.

thegoodfight7211 Thu Jul 09, 2009 9:24 am

Yep, the rear-loaders are the ones worth money. You can pick up a regular production one one eBay for like $10 or $15 if you watch.

So if the new green ones are readily available everywhere but here, if anyone finds one you wanna scoop it up for me? I can pay you through PayPal if anyone finds one.

My 3yr old son is crazy about his dubs. Here is a very small sampling of his collection.

I think this one's a Matchbox - had it for years, painted it with Sage touch-up and made the spare from a dowel.

Bartoli Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:31 pm

The local Walmart had both the green ones and red ones in stock when I stopped in... I had purchased the orange one a while back.

The red one is a pretty good match for the Montana Rad paint on my '69.
