Wanted to say 'hello' to all the good peoples in the Bay Window forum.

I picked up a '73 this week. It's my first venture into the world of the VW Bus. It's a bit newer than I would have liked but it was priced right and local so I jumped on it. I'm diggin' it so far. It ain't nothin' like the Bugs I've had, that's for sure. I'm a sloooow sumbitch in this thing. I've found that I enjoy holding up traffic immensely  .

I'll be in and out of here from time to time so's I can learn all I can. Later on.

Enjoy some photos.....

Dude...forget anything "older." That bus is in incredible condition. Almost immaculate. Just enjoy it!

Awesome ride you have there, enjoy it!

holding up traffic is one of the best uses for a bus, its great driving through campus at the speed limit of 15, especially since the avg. speed of all the other drivers is close to 30 :P

That is a great looking bus, could be improved a lot by putting the correct VW emblem on the front 8)

Looks GREAT!.... Is that your fuel filter in your engine compartment? If so you could move it out side. That is if your looking for something to do.

Looks nice to me.

A nice set of dual carbs with a good linkage would be something to plan for in the future.

I think someone swapped your steering column out at one time. That's a later bay steering wheel.

Beautiful bus. I really need to get some fog lights

Wow.

I want.

RIOMX Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:19 pm

This thread makes me want to switch my seats back for the original seats, which are currently in storage.

I have some from an early 90s acura, but they sit much higher than what is comfortable:

I was thinking about your Shadow thread while taking that pic.

Yep, it is. And I don't understand why people still put them there after all the evidence we have against them in that spot. It will be moved. Cool, I have a project.

Dude, I hear you. When I got my Bug there was a ton of work to do. This one just needed a good cleaning and a tune up. Maybe a few interior panels replaced if I'm feeling picky.

That does sound like a good idea. I have also thought about putting an upright dual carb engine in. During my quest for a Bus, I drove a 68 Bay with a 1600 DP in it and it felt like my Bug and was familiar to my eyeballs.
Does that make any sense?

Right on. I think that large one is glued on  I gotta figure out how to get it off without to much damage to the paint.

The holes are there (and visible) for the original emblem.
