It's cool, cuz you have the type of detail where you can't just go buy some parts and slap on it........it takes some thought and elbow grease and makes it different....not everyone can just go do that.

thank you for the pics/post.....

exactly!i didnt want to just buy a bunch of prepackaged parts to bolt on.it hit me when i was looking at the build thread of skims impala.he was smoothing out all the cast emblems and numbers off his brake calipers!this is what i stuck with for the entire build.

I gotta give it up... it takes alot of ambition, drive, dedication, and support to put it down like that on a ride. Especially with handling the paint and bodywork part too. That shit is no joke. Not only physical, but hours go by like minutes. Gotta remind yourself to eat sometimes. Anyway, the paint looks deep and smooth as hell on those parts....that's some gourmet shit right there. Nice job T. Car came out beautifully.

Anthony

(btw, skims impala.....all I can say is god damn! Homie has 20/20 vision
fo sho.
Yeah I don't mind metal work but I hate body work. I could repair 3 rusty cars sheetmetal before one body and paint. My problem is I got too many projects going at once. Tims car made me go back to the drawing board with a lot of my shit on my split.

A-train and I talk about that alot. Too many projects. I'm also trying to rehabilitate myself to only do one car at a time. Sometimes it's nice to switch gears and work on something else for a second. Especially when frustration sets in, or a roadblock comes up. Gotta step away and clear the mind, put it on reset. BUT, then time and money gets spread thin between all the projects, and (for me) nothing gets done.

For bodywork....I did my first bus last year....came out nice, but fuck....a full month of sanding, and more sanding........the pros can have it all when it comes to that mess. I still have nightmares about dust.
Like you Skim, I would rather weld something.
Major props to anyone doing their own paint and body. It's a whole different world.

Keep those pics coming T.....and Trayle ^^^^^ too funny :D

Tim when you were posting pics up during the build I was always anticipating the next set of pics to hit the web. Keep the pics coming so everyone can see exactly how much detail went in to that pan. This car will always be a "raised the bar" oval. Congrats on the finished product and the award you earned at Classic.

Well I'll be damned. Tim doing big things now!

Dont forget about us "smaller" peoples though.

Keep the updates coming mang.

here is where i got it down to the shop.i completly stripped the outer panels to bare metal and started the body work.i also body worked the fender wells to give it a sweet look after they were buffed.

t-boneGFK Mon Jul 13, 2009 6:59 pm

once the shell was ready to go i put 2 coats of dupont etch primer and 3 coats of duponts high build urathane primer.the car was stripped for a couple weeks while i was doing body work so its realy important to have the bare metal parts clean for the etch primer,so right before the etch was applied it was complety sanded again.any oil or dirt under the etch can cause heartache down the road.

Tim you single-handedly raised the bar BIG TIME!

It was very cool meeting you at the Classic and seeing your car, it's amazing! Like I told you there, your prize was/is well deserved!

Now don't sell this car but keep it and enjoy it with the family..
Rock on!!

I don't know much about body work and your thread is intense. I got lost on the part when you have it in the booth and the plastic is sucked down to it.. Might be a dumb question but , spray over that did you?? I wouldn't think so but what the hell am i missing???

thats pic is when i first laid the plastic over the car.on the next few photos the plastic was cut away from where i needed to spray and what isnt cut away is taped up to protect the pan, brakes wheels etc from overspray.its no fun tryin to remove paint from places its not suppose to be.
