Its in the T3 forum. 8)

I cant wait to finish it either, its been in the works for awhile now and I hope to have it done in the next few months.

The tires are actually retreads that I got from treadwright.com, they use bfg and other tire carcases and vulcanize their tread to them. They come with a 2 year warranty and are a lot cheaper than any other tire I have found. One of the guys that work for me had them on a 3/4 ton suburban for several years and never had an issue, so I figure they should work fine on a VW. 8)

Rears tires are 33x12.50-15 and front are 30x9.50-15.

Thanks for the good comments!!!!! 8)

Wow that thing looks sweet! Great work! I'm surprised you didn't do your cage while you had the top cut off though. It's gonna be nice!

Mocking up a pattern for the rear fenders, they will be made from sheet metal and welded to the factory fender for better rigidity.

shred625 Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:26 am

Them are some really wide rear tires!

No safety goggles?

BugZyla.com Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:21 pm

They were the invisible ones that I had on the day.

I figured someone would say something about my boys safety shoes first.

The beam is mounted, still have to do a bunch of bracing and make a mount for the rack, but its in there. Time to get the rest of the front suspesion put together. I am going to put stock arms on it for now, 2.5"s down the road when I get some extra$$$$, I already have the rest of the goodies, disc brakes, spindles, wheels & tires. Just gotta get some tubing for the tie rods.

Corrado2nr Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:12 pm

very nice work

BugZyla.com Fri Jul 17, 2009 12:29 am

So anyway, We got a little more accomplished today, (myself and Shawn my tube bending guy, he can do it half the time I can and he doesnt waste tubing). Rack is mounted and 90% of the bracing is done up front and the spindles are rebuilt and reenforced. Just need to finish installing the spindles, disc brakes, make the tie rods, and finish the steering shaft and she will be a roller. Then we will do the shock hoops. We have a cold front moving through the phoenix area tomorrow, its only supposed to be 109 for a high so maybe we can get more done than usual. 8)

SWEET so far. type 3 Baja Nice !!!

BugZyla.com Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:59 pm

Well she is officially a roller. All thats left up front suspension wise it to finish the passenger side shock hoop, we ran out of tubing. I also have to rework the steering shaft because I am getting a little binding in the u-joints. Next up is finishing the cage through the back of the car and then I can get on with painting the rest of the body parts.
