No I don't work at Taco Bell. I'm in the Title Insurance Industry.

Here is a pic of the other side.

for the original poster, the thing to remember when your working on your vw is to do what you like. no one can fault you for that. Three bugs ago I had Kadrons on mine and it looked real sharp keeping things natural. Let the the car be a car. I am looking forward to seeing what you do to yours.

Awesome! Thanks!

WOW what a response! Thanks gang! What a great collection of engine bays. (way to set the bar HIGH guys!)

Glen - you current ride looks great! That's pretty much the look I think I'm going to go for with the exception of the fan shroud which I am going to do like 74Bajabug did on the red one - match it to the body. I'm thinking semi-gloss black for the rest of the tin and brushed for all the aluminum. None of the aluminum pieces are new, so they will need a bit of brushing.

I pulled the old engine this evening. Now I have to start cleaning the engine bay, installing new transmission mounts (why not? I'm there anyway) and painting.

Keep posting! Let's see what else is out there...

Go ahead and bash me about the coil cover, and potential overheating. If I keep it, I'm going to run the unused emissions tap on my doghouse to blow some air in there, and drill out holes along the bottom. If I fry my coil, I have been warned (and I do carry a spare).

I'm going to put the oil bath back, as well. Need to strip and paint it. I just ran out of the grey. BTW, it's supposed to be Hammertone finish by rustoleum, but kind of looks more like orange peel. Oh well, better than what I started with.

I am courious about the loose belt? Do you run it like that?

That is really nice! The air cleaner looks so clean and shiny I thought it was chrome at first glance. Nice work!
