| Just wondering what had to be done to remove the test block on the firewall? Because i see no need for it and it will clutter up the engine bay! |

Sweet motor. Where did you relocate the coil? |

Sweet motor. Where did you relocate the coil? behind the shroud on this one. |

Nice job man!
How do you find the Line-X compares with the tarboard in terms of noise reduction, heat shielding... things like that? |

I thought my engine looked fairly decent...until now! #-o
The tie wrap on the breather hose was replaced with a hose clamp and I've still got to clean up the wiring and paint the breast tin, but:
Plus repaint the stupid crankshaft pulley  What a dumb idea it was to remove that!
I'm really hoping that my oh so shiny and reflective and pretty chrome alternator holds out for a while  :P |

My 1200 engine. Haven't done anything to it really, other than give it a clean up. I'm sure if I put my mind to it I could make it look a lot better. The tinware is a little bit rusty, so when the engine is out sometime, I will also remove the fan shroud, rub it down and give it a fresh coat of paint. |

Thanks.
Haven't noticed any difference in noise or heat inside the car. I have plenty of sound damping material on the inside. It's a loud engine anyway, but it runs nice and cool....

I'm with the Raby clan. I like the look AND great cooling. |

One of the few injected engines on this post. My first injected bug, it's actually pretty fun to work on and only a slight pain in the ass. You'd crap your pants if you saw how many vacuum hoses this engine really has. It's sick! |

hey whooba
I just cleaned my 77 FI engine and discovered a disconnected "mystery" hose on the upper right side of the engine compartment...medium size rubber tubing, coming out from above the passenger side taillight and tucked under the air cleaner...the disconnected end is just above the oil filler cap...I haven't searched yet, buy any idea what this might be?
thanks |

Not as clean as others, but it runs. Just trying to get all the parts back together for it.

there's a few of us in the Rogue Valley that have these. I'll see how it balances out when I put the new motor together. |

Maybe it's the 'return hose' from a charcoal canister in the right hand rear wheel arch. If it is, it should be connected up to the air filter. The charcoal canister absorbed emissions from the petrol tank and these were fed back to the engine by way of the hose in to the air filter. |
