i'm so sad there was no bash this year.
matt, that's a good idea. i guess i could get measurements from the wolfsburg west website. it is one sexy tetanus carrying beast isn't it!
yes, we here at the south philly vans club were choked up at our last meeting. i was able to meet up with trailbash veteran and documentarian "stanagon" over the weekend in the piney hills of cape cod. i'm not sure we talked about trailbashing but you could feel it in the air. i took a few wrong turns in the campground just for the hell of it. |

i've been on vaykay for a while but the day before i left, i yanked the trans....
got out the drum puller
nasty
cranked off the fronts
scary!
did some gravy work to wind down. i stomped in a piece of front floor.
so my dreams of doing a $0 runner have come to an end. i spent $562 on wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake lines, flex lines. i have to get this bus rollable by this weekend so i have a bus to drive to a show, otherwise i would have begged and foraged for free parts....still doing pretty good.
i also pulled off the ruined brake shoes, wheel cylinder etc and cleaned up the backing plates. |

thanks. it's the philanthropist in me. who deserves to be at the front of the buffet line? the starving homeless person or the glutonous business man? |

How high does the lift go? Can you just raise the thing up and drive the busses under it? |

it's close but no. i got the trans in the bus today. i won't have the parts from WW in time to do all of what needs to be done. it'll have to be roughed together, then taken apart. the hard part of drum pulling and trans R&R is done. original paint 16" barndoor standard rims with 16x6.00 bias plys are my wheel/tire choice. every fool is building an offroad bus these days....
i scrounged a set of wheel bearings. i should have it rolling around the shop tomorrow. i may have a gas tank in it as well as the motor. who knows, maybe it'll fire up?
i need some advice on pulling off the e-brake cables from the old drums....this bus needs an e-brake for sure. |

thanks volksfriend! i have an agent in your area that will pay you with a western union money order in the amount of $5000. if you would be so kind as to refund him the difference of your donation. your kindness is appreciated.
before anyone asks, the answer is NO, i won't be driving this to bulli brigade. i'm tired of the northeast herd leaving with all the trophies. |

what a coincidence. i have a "union76" hat!
update time: trans new T/O bearing, gas tank, and 36er are all installed. i had to unbolt the trans and springplates to pull it back so i could get the shifter bushing installed. matt and i pushed it outside to assess the off-road stance that i'm trying to achieve. maybe matt can post some pictures.
this weekend i pick up the drivers door that "crukab" donated to the cause. anyone have some shocks they wanna throw my way? |

do u need good shocks or just shocks? I've been meaning to replace the ones in my white bus for a few years now, and since the bus is down at the moment I dont mind taking them out and bringing them down this weekend. It'll be the perfect excuse to have to buy new ones at this end. |
