ahhhhhh.....uhhhhhhh........ummmmmmm........hmmm.....well no. but i am hoping to have it done by next august for the 2010 trailbash :D
but the drivetrain is all hooked up now.
i still gotta install a crankstart nut on the pulley but i found a rusty crankstart handle in my shop today.
matt_cuddy was kind enough to donate these bumper brackets off his mousegrey and white sunroof standard...
actually, matt tossed them into the scrap metal heap and i pulled them back out and stashed them away. i'm gonna get them functional and install them sometime soon. |

So, the new engine isn't going to sag out of the bus when the rear torsion housing detaches itself from the frame, like the Jersey Doublecab, is it?
Great work there. Sorry I missed out.
When did you get the honkin' wheel puller? |

everything is mocked up at this point. 2 bolts holding the motor in finger tight. similar scenarios elsewhere. i'm doing many things at the same time so that in the end, i can run around the bus with 11, 13, 14, 17, 19, 27, 32 mm wrenches and dial it all in. i've also found that there is no sense tightening down anything because it usually has to come back off. that's the way dead buses are....
it ain't done! feel free to stop by anytime you are passing thru philly and i'll put you to work!
the wheel puller was in the batch of stuff we got from joe in CT. i forgot about it and matt found it the other day. i truly have more stuff here than i realize. |

| Let me know when you need money for a Mermaid mural on the rear hatch. I have zero artistic ability but I will happily throw you some money for Mermaid on Donkey action. |

I too would like to send in a "donation" for this bus.
The mango VW emblem is cool, but I think this one would give the bus a bit more "bling". It's nice how only parts of the V and W are pitted and rusty.

So what size bumper are you thinking? 2x6 or 4x4? Maybe since it will be an off-road bus and conditions could be damp, pressure treated? The green of the pressure treated will complement the green of the bus. |

it was gonna be a pressed bumper bus. i have an NOS front and a used/rafferty straightened rear that i am considering. maybe i oughta go pressure treated bumper bus.....hmmmm. if i have to buy wood, then no.
nate, hell yeah! i'm with you on the bling. i'll PM you my address. you can write on your tax return "south philly van club" on the charitable donation line. we aren't a 501C3 but who cares!

thanks fellow volksfriends!
off the top of my head...
-section of floor with a decent gas pedal attached.
-pass side bullet turn signal housing and lense
-pass side rear corner and battery tray. (i'l like some funky green donated for aesthetics but anything will do)
-i need some deluxe trim. i think i only need a nose piece but don't know which side, more info will follow on that.
-engine lid prop. prefer red but anything will do
the list will grow when i get back to working on it but this week i'm gonna try to focus on running my business.
anything anyone can think of for a "custom touch"
for instance matt_cuddy has offfered to cut a star window out of a junkyard custom van. anything that anyone else can think of. i'm donw for it. it's really to early to think about because i wanna make this bus go but some sort of lounge/sleeping quarters for the rear would be lovely on this van.
thanks again to "crukab" in VT for donating the drivers door with mirror arm and icepick door handle and "sconord" for picking it up at crukab's sisters house and had deliverinign it to my swap spot in flanders yesterday! |

also erwin, does this panel look to be the same red as your fire panel? |
