Just picked up my first VW bus. She runs great so far, exterior is in good shape, but the interior definitely needs some work. The material for the tent needs replacing due to big tears, but other than that she seems real sound. Thanks for all the help through the various topics - they helped me decide on this VW.

| They are starting to grow on me, but I'll let you know if I decide to get rid of them. Are there only supposed to be two? |

| Move the mud flaps to the back of the rear wheels. Helps increase the "coolness" factor. |

I decided to go ahead and start working on the interior. Here are some photos after the removal of the cabinets and carpet but before any cleaning. The only sore spot that i didn't like was the rusty floor pan on the passenger side. Does anyone think this is a major problem? It still feels really solid. The only issue I had is that I can't break free the propane line connecting to the floor of the bus. I'll try again but with some more leverage.
Anybody know what this bungie cord is for?

The floor is fine sand it out and hit it with rust bullet.
What is the hole in front of the hatch? |

| I was actually going to ask if anybody knew why that is there. It has a cover over it with some sealant around it. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. |

| is the fuel filter out of the engine compartment and in with the fuel tank? |

that hole is probably from some lazy guy who didnt want to pull the tank out to fix his fuel level sender.
ahh, PO's. cant live with them, wouldnt have a bus without them!
I'd try and repair it neat and reusable, who knows if you'll need that access again some day. unless youre going for 100% that is
thats a real solid bus, again, lucky.
If I had a bungie cord there I'd strap my fire extinguisher in with it |

| the bungie cord is to hold the small between the front seat table and leg.....as its stashed behind the drivers seat. |

| if you get a chance could you tell me what is embossed on your external Westy electric hook up flap shown in you 1st and 2nd original photo - I've got the same but a PO has painted over it a number of times and I can't make out what it says - not important but it's just bugging me |

| So I'm not the only one with the custom fuel gauge sending unit access. I was wondering if that hole covered with duct tape was a factory option. |
