I believe that is the first underwater recovery I have seen. I wonder how much the crane with road closure ran them...
Here is the poorly translated story
Quote:
For some years ago was awarded a VW mate kjenskap to a VW bus that lay in a water in the north Telemark skiing. This is entirely on the border to Agder, i.e. in the nearby area of ". Morten Lund, who has the biggest extra equipment collection to VW and a good part cars, has sent down divers to see if this does indeed voted ... It did it first coming on Saturday at around 11:00-12:00 time will a 30t meters lastebilkran lift up a 57 against sambabuss. |

| all things considered it's amazingly well preserved. Am I to understand that this was driven into, and parked on the bottom of, a lake? For somebody to go to the effort to extract that they must have a plan for it. |

Story on the Norwegian site says the owner at the time 'took the wheels off it to use on another vw then pushed it into the lake with a tractor' |

| Its amazing how only a few years back(ok more that a few) buses were not worth anything. early 90's I remember several 23 windows selling for less than a thouseand. Now people are fishing them out of the water |

Hows does one find something like that in the 1st place?
I'm guessing "the bus in the lake" was known for awhile and it takes the right guy at the right time to attempt to pull it out.
Either that or a hardcore splitty guy was diving for golf balls and happen to stumble upon it :D
Very interesting none the less. It would be cool to get it running and drive it as is! |

| I had the same thought. Was there a pile of cars at the bottom of the lake? Did the water level drop? Did diver's find it? I wanna know damnit. |

That thing is going to need allot of metal replacement, get ready Gerson. Not all these lumps are just under water plants. I see allot of lumps under the paint = rust!

| that is not going to buff out, surely the cost of the crane and crew was far more than the busses value, cool story though |

I think I would have tried to hit it with a pressure washer before all of that
crap dried onto it for good, and scrub it up like an Abalone shell! |

| At the very least, they've cleaned up part of a lake in Norway! Wonder how long it was down there, seems like with a VW, anything longer than 2 years and it might have dissolved! |
