View original topic: Stupid NEWB Question...

Forgive me for asking such a dumb question, I've searched and haven't found my answer. I have a swingaxle and kingpin car (buggy), the torsion is ran up on the rear so I have positive camber and room for bigger tires, but on the front, it doesn't seem to be up as much. How do I lift the front end higher up? It seems if I go any bigger tires I'll be rubbing the fenders
Thanks

Install adjusters or pickup a front beam that has them installed, either stock or one of the warrior beams that are available.

No question is stupid...

There are a few different ways to do it. The 3 that I'm aware of are lift spindles, adjusters, and a cut and turn. The adjusters and a cut and turn operate the same by moving the grub screws, but obviously the adjusters are adjustable.

As Iowavw 217 said lift spindles, adjusters, and a cut and turn

Depending on the skills you and your friends have, plus a few tools. The easyest would be Lift Spindles, you just replace the stock ones you have now.

A cheaper way is the adusters, you need a welder, but this lets you adjust the front end untill you like the ride height, down side is they can brake.

The cheapest way is to Cut and turn, again you need a welder, you turn the jam nut to the ride height, and weld it back together, very strong takes a few hours...

Hope that helps

don't adjusters / cut-n-turn make the spring rate a little stiffer?

raised spindles keep it the same

but if the back t-bars are turned, he might as well turn the front.

Rotating the anchors on the front end or installing adjusters do NOT change the spring rate. You'd have to change the torsions to change the rates. You CAN change ride height and Pre-Load by rotating the torsion anchors. But remember that Lifting the car does not keep a car which rubs on bumps from rubbing after. It just changes WHEN it rubs.

So how does changing the pre-load affect the ride?

It will make it stiffer for sure - depending on how high you go.
If you want to keep the same feel and gain 2-1/2 to 3" height go with raised spindles. I just had adjusters put in my beam for $50.
+ adjusters. Were the raised spindles will run you $225 +
Also make sure the PO didn't turn your rear axles to far.
Allot of pos camber in a swing creates really sloppy handling
on and off road. You may gain some clearence but IMO its not worth the
crappy handling. I run a 68 with Swing. They have been turned
one out notch witch seems to work pretty well.
