Just purchased a berrien chassis with a adjustable aluminum front beam, never adjusted one yet... any tips?

Adjust it once the buggy is at running weight.

To start, I would set it in the middle of its adjustment. Take it out for a spin to judge whether you want it stiffer or softer. It is pretty easy to adjust on my baja, and on a rail it should be a breeze.

Or you could just level out your ride height. That is where I like mine, but every ride is a bit different.

Good luck.

Do you have to jack up the car to get the weight off the adjusters or can turning that bolt do it?

jack it up.

I'm brand spanking new to adjusters. Can someone explain how to do it? There's two bolts to turn. Is one to adjust and one to keep that one from moving? :?

Here is a shot of one so you can see how it works.

Cool video. Thanks. Two more questions, in the top picture, you turn the nut on the right to make it go up or down, right? But it looks like you don't want to loosen the one on the right cuz that's holding the torsion leaves. . Am I correct?

I have adjusters on my baja and you just loosten the bolt on the right enought to let the plate slide against the beam. The tortion springs are a square pattern through the hole and will not go anywhere. Great way to adjust ride height without much difficulty. just keep in mind when you change the ride height it also changes your suspension geometry and your alignment will be affected. not seriously but it could wear on the front tires. just my opinion.

This is what the inside of a stock beam looks like. This should help you understand what the adjuster does.

Cool. Thanks, That was real nice of you to cut up a beam just to show us how it works.
