Hey Tony, The bus ran a little warm but I just took it slow. I passed on albuquerque as it was a little late and I figure the weather was so mild and I was meeting people in Fort smith Ark. Oddly I could not find anyone with jet reams and gauge in OK City and I finally found correct size at a Kawasaki dealership repair. I did learn the solex and Mikuni use the same jets. I did all my on the road Maintenance and am ready to roll to Eureka Springs on Thurs. with re newed confidence. As far as the Lean at altitude Bumping the timing 2 degrees is about all that I could do. My buddy is a pilot and can explain it better than me but at altitude you wind up with less air mass. Carbuerators? I really enjoyed my self in Flagstaff.

Yeah, that's about all you can do as for bumping the timing. Just remember to bring it (timing) back down when you come back down from altitude. By the way, higher altitude will make for a richer running carbed vehicle.

Hey Ned!

Got that pattern in the mail the other day for my Westy. Thanks so much! Going to try and make it out of stainless...if you can believe that! Wish me luck. Glad your trip went well. Call or stop by anytime...your KOA family now and we would love to have you. By the way your garden fresh veggies were the shit in my stir fry!

Hey Stingah, Glad to hear you got that pattern. If it were me I would make one out of card board to ensure the proper fit before a commitment like that. I am glad you enjoyed those tomatoes. I agree they are the shit. I am still eating those freshees. I may see you in a couple of years as I want to drive my deluxe to New Jersey show. Its a great show and camp out. Cheers Ned

I don't get this thread....I have driven from 9500ft (where I left Cripple Creek, CO) to over 10,500ft (beartooth pass, MT), and down to sea level with the same jets in my Weber Progressive...not an issue.

I do notice a big change in tire pressure. :D

But my engine just rolls on.

peace

You dont get the thread? You didnt drive from Williams AZ. to Flagstaff with to small a main jet in a stock dual port. After I changed it it was fine. But I was in the middle of a cross country journey.

So your bus wasn't up to snuff when you left on your trip. Even thou you probably thought it was. No big deal. That's what a good shakedown cruise is for. To wring out the bugs. And it sounds like you got it accomplished. That's what counts. Fortunatly when my bus came down off the stands it was ready to go and hit the highway. But you never know. And actually the first trip passed through Flag and was a relief that the tuning was good. Had hoped it was but you never know until you do it. I did a little old hotrod truck a long time ago. Had probably 20 mile on it and then hitched on the ski boat and headed out cross country. Took two day to get about the first 100 miles. Fuel delivery problems. Never would have known by just driving around town.
At least I didn't have to pull my engine in a Reno MGM Grand parking lot to fix a leak.
