Fighting fire with fire. The noise form the asphalt below is being blocked out by the asphalt above.
I'd love some sound deadening too. I'd really love to figure out what Ford did to the Fairlane for that. My in-laws have the next year model Fairmont Ghia (Not SWB, different options) and things are still audible between in / outside. The Fairlane though, a scream is a barely audible muffled sound. No I don't murder people. Kids, what can I say. Whatever Ford used on it is amazing.
I have some yoga mat glued to one of the side panels, and the front bottom of the bulkhead back was covered in some kind of bituminous rubbery gunk but that's about as far as any kind of proofing goes.
If you are wondering about the rubber mat I did it for extra heat insulation. When ambient gets to 40*C plus outside regularly I take what I can get. |
