That's interesting. I've got a '66 Ghia and that knob looks the same as the one on mine. Maybe you can link some photos showing what you mean.

Here is a link to the Ghia style shift knob

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=178698

It has a smooth top, like later bug shift knobs. This knob was issued in 58' and continued till 67'? Remember around 58 vw stopped using beetle knobs on Ghias and used the tulip shaped dash knobs, the shift knob and heater knobs changed too (they were smooth topped).

with or without the original style shift knob the car looks amazing! Attention to detail all over the place. Job well done.

Thanks Loren for the advice on the shifter knob, in fact not easy to find in France, but I'll see to find a right one.

Très chic!

Okay, I'm not sure if that translates properly when referring to a car :? , so maybe I should just say "nice Ghia!"

The 66 is near to be finished, and today it was teh time for the first run after 6 months of restoration, great and special moment.

It was also the first time I can see it out on the natural light, I like it more! Last details to do, and after it will go to the tecnical conrol to be approuved, soon...

Unbelievable, thanks

Anyway I could get the full resolution photos of the trunk area/wiring if you have them?

sputnick60 Sun Mar 21, 2010 4:40 am

The car looks wonderful. A job well done. If you have them, I'd like to see photos of the dash on the passenger side and on the wiring side. I'd keep those as a reference..... like so many other photos you have shown us of that car.... close to perfection.
