In heavy traffic, if you want to merge right, it's nice to have a right mirror to keep an eye on your right blind spot--this requires a right side mirror with a blind spot mirror attached. Have those on both the non-vintage cars we own, and boy is it nice in traffic. |

Dude, I drive in NYC, the last thing I rely on when switching lanes in my mirrors. The only blind spots I need to worry about are the ones driving Range Rovers on their cell phones. They don't make a mirror big enough to help there.

Owning a late model vert with a passenger side mirror, I can't remember the last time I used that mirror. Your VW is not a truck or SUV so other than the aesthetics of a right side mirror, you'll be better off just turning your head than trying to use it.

Thanks for the insight, I have been contemplating a second mirror, now I can move on to other projects. 8) |

I don't know if you are being facetious or not Jim, but I'm serious. In both my '79 vert [top up or down], or my '69 sedan, a quick turn or the head gives me much more peace-of-mind than using my mirrors. Actually I believe folks rely on their mirrors to much. The stock mirrors on VW's are so small other than keeping an occasional eye on that cop four car lengths back, I wouldn't trust them in any turn.
I think a right side mirror looks good on a Beetle [as long as they match], but for practical purposes, it's not that much help.

Well you are a dumbass for trying to merge right five lanes within a quarter mile on '95 [in the rain no less]. You need to think ahead.

Are you serious? I use mine all the time. And especially with the vert you have a blind spot that only the mirror can reveal. I wouldn't DREAM of not using that mirror. |

Not facetious at all, you reminded me of a bug I had years ago with the same issue, so I don't think I will even bother with it. |

-jeffrey [-X , You may be the dumbass, google I-95 SB mile marker 85. I enter from the left and have to take the very next exit #84 five lanes over to the right. Hey jeffrey  :fist: |

| Not everyone has complete neck mobility so a right mirror is necessary for some. |
