i recently put turn signals in my baja and i am using a 3 prong flasher. anyway when i flip the switch it just buzzs and the lights come on but it doesnt flash. i am running an on-off-on toggle switch and have the fuse on the x terminal, switch on the L terminal and ground on the p terminal. anybody have any idea what it could be. i did a search but havent really found the anwser[/img]

No ground on "P"....... "P" is normally to "pilot" (indicator) lamp...

I have the same setup you do, I left P open, nothing on it or connected to it. My blinker works fine.

Pilot (indicator ) can be connected to L or P.... It is effectively a two prong flasher if no connection on "P" and indicator is wired to "L"...

I used this when wiring mine

I still need to go in and add another switch for 4 ways

Be aware in bottom graphic the grounding of pilot lamp may be wrong.... It might need to be connected to 12 volts like upper graphic....

Then again it may depend on how you wire system....

I don't have a lamp unfortunately. I have a factory speedo but no idea how to wire it into it or even if I can. I might just add a couple lamps if and when I get an aftermarket speedo.

Factory speedo has three lamps at bottom of unit.... From the back side (trunk) left one is oil, middle one is blinker, right one is alt/Gen.... There is a push on connector (blade) right above the three lamps, this takes 12 volts when key is on....

Each of the three lamps has 12volt going to shell of lamp and center conductor goes to a "ground" supplied by oil pressure switch (oil lamp), or alternator or voltage regulator (depends on if alt or gen) and center lamp from flasher or turn signal wire on switch side of flasher (either "L" or "P" terminal)...

So it doesn't indicate left or right turn signal only that it is on?
