| I broke a rear 5 lug drum it was the one that has the straight spokes. I see there is ones that have twisted spokes and there is smooth ones I have a set of smooth they look to me to be stronger any info would be a great help thanks |

| I'm not sure I never broke one. Any old German VW one you can find is a lot stronger than what is being sold today. If they are worn you can get oversized linings installed at a HD truck brake clutch rebuilding shop.. |

Oh, man! I wish I knew that could be done. I tossed out my worn rear brake drums and installed the only replacements I could find...Brazilian. So far nothing has broken, but I wish I had German instead. |

cip shows some made in germany ones here
http://www2.cip1.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1088
They show a 46-57 and a 58-65 front on that link
Im not sure what the difference is in the rear from the 58-67 and 68-79 rear 5 lug. I assume its a swing vs. irs thing but I thought irs was 4 lug, but I am still learning too so I have no idea. |

yes, the difference will be swing and IRS. but 68-79 are 4 lug stock, unless you buy a conversion drum to go from 4 to 5 lug, but since that is not an origional german thing, the quality will most likely suck, as do most aftermarket parts. |
