View original topic: disc brake to wheel clearance

Well, I located and purchased some Custom & Commercial front wheels (very Jackman-like--->flat center spider) to match the existing rear rims on my sandrail project.

To review, the frame accepts a bj beam and the included one is bent (found a replacement---->thanks for the leads SAMBA). it has Ghia spindles and discs/calipers.

The wheels (4 lug) will not clear the calipers.
They need 1/4 inch with some caliper grinding or 3/8 inch without.
Are there downsides to using aluminum spacers and what about sourcing the bolts that need to be 3/8 "longer"?

Rail is intended for occasional street driving....like a 4 wheel "motorcycle".

Thanks

Jay

interesting, I've never seen a spoke jackman type wheel even come close , be sure there not wheels designed for a trailer.
The centers. are they stamped out and have a ring, then weld to the rim or are they cut out and only have spokes welded to the rim.

get studs, not the empi screw in kind, real studs, you can buy spacers, some on here say they have used washers

They are 15x4. The spider is flat. The bolt holes are made to accept the "half ball" type bolts. They would be fine with drum brakes.
Does anyone have horror stories about aluminum spacers or a suggestion on where to find bolts that are 3/8 inch longer than stock? I see the spacers on several sites but I don't see the bolts.

Thanks

Jay

I have 1/8" spacers on the front to cover the stud splines that stick through. 1/4 " should not hurt as long as the studs are long enough.
