View original topic: can a seller's ad counts be shown in his ads?

since the 6/12 month ad count is shown only in the seller's profile, showing the ad count in the ad might help buyers who dont know where to find it or dont even know it exists anywhere. it also seems to me that the total lifetime ad count is relevent, not just the 6/12:

some sellers have very little feedback, but a high ad count- i happen to be one of those, with over 300 lifetime ads and only a half dozen feedbacks. buyers who search my feedback would get the impression that i havent sold much.

Just because you placed a lot of ads, doesn't mean you're a "good seller". Just like a low post count doesn't mean you don't know what you're talking about.

You can't compare a seller that sold a dozen real cars to one that sold a dozen Matchbox cars?

Dan, 148 posts in your feedback is a nice representation of the way you do business.

not at all. the # of posts in my feed back are not any indication of how many buyers posted feedback. 140 of those 148 posts were from bystanders who were commenting about just 1 transaction.

it can, depending on how much neg feedback you have. but only the # of ads deleted (sold) could indicate this, not the # of ads placed (unsold items, partly).

1 bad feedback + 6 good feedbacks implies that 16% of transactions go bad
1 bad feedback + 277 deleted ads implies that .036% of transactions go bad

both of those percentages apply to my history. naturally, which one do i want my buyers to see? and which one is most accurate? to both questions, the last one.

Glenn, were you just nit-picking, because one can always find an exception to the rule? or are you actually attempting the argument that it is better for the buyer to have LESS information about the seller?

I don't want to clog up every ad with tons of information.
I agree with you that it's sort of "buried" though.

I can see having a total lifetime ad count as an interesting number, mostly if a particular seller has taken 12 months off from selling, but I wouldn't necessarily use that as a reference point.

For example, there have been a few people that were awesome sellers in the past that are now banned as they went bad.

If you want more feedback, you can always solicit it from buyers.
Numerous people do that.

You may already do this but I am going to put it out there anyway. I always send a follow up email to every customer after I see they have received the item through tracking number. I ask if they are happy with their purchase and invite ask them to consider my services in the future. I also invite them to leave feedback and give them a link to ease the process. Just a thought to expound on what Everett stated. good luck :D
