You guys should have seen what the right end of this car's torsion housing looked like sitting in post race impound! Rock contact trying to avoid a competitor where trails came together.
The right end plate was broken nearly completely off the torsion housing. The 2 front torsion cap bolts were broken off and gone. Both inner and outer plates were bent a bunch. The end of the torsion bar was bent about 45*. The spring plate was bent at that same angle, then did an 'S' bend to the middle of the spring plate, then straight back to the axle housing. Pretty amazing carnage for a car which went on and finished near the top of the class. |

i was there with 1538 (pictured) and 737(not pictured) 737 blew a head gasket, from doin 2 mph through the uphill sand/silt section, finally blew about 32 miles into the second lap. then 1583 lost a belt that drives the pump to cool the torque converter oil and boiled out a seal. tough day, but thats racing!
do you have any pics of 737? red ranger, bolinas racing.
i also want to see more of that first sequence please |
