View original topic: Brake lights stay on with hydro lock???

I've done some looking around but have not found the "yes" or "no" answer I was looking for. I'm installing a park lock (line lock) inline after the brake light pressure switch. Seems to me that the lights will not stay on with the lock engaged. Am I correct? It seems like a nobrainer but I've been wrong before! Thanks!

they shouldn't stay on. should only hold pressure after the lock which is downstream of the pressure switch.

I have a park lok in my car also, and with it enguaged the brake lights do Not stay on, as the pressure is held between the park lok and the rear pads. My brake light switch is on the master cylinder.

Thanks, That's what I thought ,but I was not sure if there was a vacuum. The master cyclinder does not have a vent lid. I was thinking sealed system may = constant pressure. Everything else I have ever worked on has had a vented cap. Thanks again!

Should have vent....

My billet resivour did not have vent so I drilled a 1/32 hole in lid...

i have had 2 of the push button style park locks actually completely lock up on me, what a pain. CNC has a part number for for a ball valve that i plan to try out. in theory it should work the same way, but should not have to worry about it getting stuck ad causing me to have to pull it out, re-connect the lines and bleed again.

find a line lock lever from a parts store. we used one on a 180hp tractor after tearing out park gear. worked fantastic
