Hey all,

Just an update on the bus...

I picked it up from the docks in Sydney a couple of days ago.
Got a panel guy coming to have a look at it next week, to run his hand over it, and paint will soon follow.

Nearly got all the bits for it now, as you might appreciate there are a whole lot of "bits" for a bus like this..

Anyway, I'll keep you posted as things progress...

Cheers...Elton

Here is a couple of pics of it as Gerson found it originally for interests sake...

Very nice.

How did you go getting it past the Australian customs with the new import laws?

elton_OZ Mon Nov 01, 2010 4:04 am

No dramas, they're really only worried about hotrods, limo's, and kit cars (like the 356 replicas etc.)

Even though my body is modified, it could have been how it came from the factory for all they know...

Elton posting!!! :D Keep up dated on the bus!!!

Great news. So they're not worried about the Fuchs, big engine and altered suspension then?! 8)

Naa, didn't even batter an eyelid. Although I did mention that I was looking for the original 16's but the fuchs was all I could find for now...hehe..

Yeah Bubba, though I would wait until I had something to add worthwhile....

Starting to pull the bus apart tonight...

Fonz Tue Nov 02, 2010 2:50 am

Great. Thanks for that. 8) There's hope yet! :D

Look forward to seeing more of the samba.

Shows you what can be done with a f@#k ton of money (in VW dollars at least). Now people will be asking $100,000 for their rust buckets, because this particular barndoor reportedly sold for that much.

The bus gets moved over to the workshop next week. I am collecting and waiting on a couple items to go full steam. It will be a BAD ASS bus when done and the "HATERS" are really going to hate it and what we're doing. The bus lover, reguardless of what's done will "LOVE' it.

I will post up some pics next week of the bus and as progress goes.
Engine is a mild 132hp, IDA carbed, 1914. Trans is a Rancho Pro Street 3.88/122 3rd, .89 4th. Porsche 944 brakes on all 4 corners, Custom front beam, center steer and lots of other cool things. Wheels are still a mystery
.

A double nod to the UK and Ricky James!

A triple nod back at ya..... LOVE IT!
