In my build, I'm using a stock T1 transaxle and stock trailing arms. But I would like to mount the trailing arms somewhat differently. Specifically, I need to lower the mounting points around 2" (for clearance).

Now, from the factory, the mounting points of the trailing arm are basically in same horizontal plane as the axle centerline (i.e. when sitting on the ground, the mounting points and the axle centerline are the same height).

I can raise the in-board mount a little above the outboard mount to provide the same rear roll center as stock. But, I'm wondering if anyone can chime in on what other geometry/handling issues my alteration will create.

From what I've read on the BMW e30 boards (those folks love to ponder semi-trailing arms), lowering the mounts may cause additional squat under heavy acceleration and perhaps dive under heavy breaking.

Other than that, I cannot find any indication that this will be a problem. Obviously, my camber profile will be a bit off from tipping one mounting point above the other, but I'm not too worried about that.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Jesse.

PS - I'm using coil overs, so I'm not worried about torsion bar mounting.
