Think there's some confusion here, that bus is indeed a 2332 but with ida's and runs i'm sure mid 15's. It's a UK bus and I know the guy! |

And here's mine !
The motor is a 2275 FI turbo built by John @ Powerhaus. It did a 14.8 1/4 mile with the engine out of the crate and very basically tuned. It's now had a good dyno and pumping out far more hp. The dyno sheet shows we stopped tuning / dynoing @5k as we heard a rattle - this turned out to be the two screws that hold the shroud to the heads tins working loose and allowing the shroud to lift !! It's going to come out and be blueprinted this winter along with the water/air intercooler set up i've had laying round all summer - there's lots more to come from it :lol: |

Wow, that's a weapon!
Just putting a 1776cc in my bus made a huge difference.
I shudder to think what that would be like!
Is it loud or does the turbo muffler take some of the edge off the noise?
Are you just running it on premium 98 fuel? |

Hi, yeah it's a rocket but still sweet round town!
It is quite loud to be honest, the turbo has a very loud whistle (nice) and the unmuffled tailpipe does grate a tiny bit on long journeys - it's been across to Belgium twice this year to shows.
99 octane shell optimax is used at all times, luckily easily available :wink: |

Even on a standard motor premium fuel makes a big difference.
My '67 used to run a 1600dp with the dual Kadrons the current motor has and we always ran 98 Octane in it.
We cooked the motor, bent a rod and buggered the case when it lost all oil pressure and died but the heads and manifolds were fine and the petrol made ALL the difference.
Using clean fuel makes a difference full stop and when the temp goes up it helped even more.
The same old heads got a full porting and matching.
Might be 10c more a litre but it saves a LOT more the next time you need to do a rebuild. |

Some great buses mentioned so far. I'd like to know more info on the early bus running RDB's pulling the wheelie. What are the specs for the engine and gearbox. That thing rocks!!!
My '63 Single Cab is a sleeper. Here's a shot:
I've done an IRS conversion and built up a nice gearbox for it. The engine is a 2332cc running 48 IDF's, FK8 cam, 40x35 denham heads, 10 to 1 compression, and a smattering of nice parts. So far it runs very smooth and strong. No idea of its potential 1/4 mile performance (yet).
I hope to squirt some paint on it next summer. |

Here's a couple more. We have fabricated a limiter for the downward travel of the spring plates thus eliminating the tendency of the rear wheels to hop.

From owner...."Porsche 3.2 & 915. The 3.2 is a stock bottom end with 46 PMO's Electromotive crank fire, SSI's and custom muffler. About 245 h.p. The trans is an '84 with 7:31 r&p and early 5th. gear"
