I hid my emblem underneath the spare tire.

Chain a Doberman to your front bumper.

Buying another emblem is cheaper than repairing the front of your bus. I got a 69 for parts and they must of used a claw hammer to remove it.

Does the Dobie have a smaller VW emblem suspended from it's collar, just to piss off would-be thieves?

Yes, one from a Type I

All jokes aside, a sensitive car alarm. :)

I used to have the spare tire on the bus.

We removed the mount to do bodywork and the paint. It was a PITA welding up the holes (and fixing the dent behind the tire).

After going through repairing the holes, I couldn't bring myself to drill new ones for the emblem. I run emblem-less.

People occasionally comment on it, but what's not there can't be stolen. The $50 emblem is one thing, more bodywork to repair what damage the thieves did would be something else!!

Here's how she looks now:

Put a sign on the bumper that says
"The only thing that is stopping me from running you over is the fact that I don't want to ruin the pretty emblem on the front of my bus."

I had my gas cap stolen, my side step stolen, and my shift knob extender stolen. I just bought a locking gas cap for my 71 and the next side step I get will have torx screws on it. Bastards!

My front emblem is epoxyed so no one can F around:P

Its just a bummer knowing that when something like that gets stolen off of our buses there is a good chance it was another bus owner that did it...there are scumbags everywhere.

I wonder if some clever artist could maybe paint a realistic looking chrome logo on there?

I'd like to see the thieves get that off!

I've lost a couple over the years. Have even been told that treasure hunt rallys put them on treasure lists. Sounds like organized crime to me.

I was thinking of welding a steel pipe inside behind the emblem with an electrically fired shotgun shell. Then it would be bling + blast. If it happened up in the woods I wouldn't even have to remove the body--just drive away.

Seriously, I think a 3D decal would be really popular with us BusHeads if somebody would print one up on clear substrate. That way it could be applied to any color bus.

Otherwise, we should all just stop replacing them as it's created a secondary market for theives reselling them.

My 2 cents,
