Balck and white of my bus...
750$ east coast bus.. not as bad as it looks.. sheet mettle replacement=
front floor l/r, lower behind bumper, and a 10' out in cargo.. the rest is good..including rockers and doglegs

where is that bus from? virginia? nj has inspection stickers in the same spot. my bus is the opposite-looks good in photos but up close eewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

firsted towed it to storage place ( a feild yes)

me ? if so i havent done anywork in rust replacement

i will do the passenger side floor .
little peices of the cargo floor
a place behind the dogs leg
maby front window channles nothing big nothing small
sand rear half of the roof :(

if wasnt me thats what i have to do

I'm trying to get a feel for prices as far as welding panels go. I called this guy about some work and he's gonna stop by next week and give me a price. I went to the local Body shop and they gave me a rough estimate (3000.00) for body work and I think paint not sure though. They told me to go ahead and strip the body with paint remover (thats what Im' doing this weekend) to see what they have to work with.

see I do auto resto for a liveing..(not a motor guy) so.. the cost of panels.. just been watching the samba. bought a P side front florr for 40 delivered last week.

Ask them and get a list of parts you will need to replace . Sometimes they just rip you on parts (they get cheep you dont) So then you could possibly look around and buy the pannels needed. Have them weld them in ans possibly save some money .

check those front windsheild channels if that floor is rusted the channels may be rotted

Man and I thought the kombi was rough at first. At least mine was pretty solid, oh yeah and a 57. LOL The Metwiz is the guy to contact for panels. He is the shit and really reasonable for the high level of quality

I have removed all the glass except for the driver and passenger windows the front windshield channles have some rust not bad though. Today I will start with paint stripping each body panel one at a time. Should I spray it with primer or would spraying it with WD-40 keep the rust to a minimum while still being able to tow him in next week to get him a written estimate?

He will kick your ass if you start spraying WD40 anywhere near where you want him to do bodywork

Bad deal with any lubricant on the body right before bodywork. Will cause a bunch of issues

what I mean about the wd-40 thing is just to prevent surface rust. after all they are gonna still need to block sand the entire bus. so spraying wd-40 would not be a good idea anyway?
